Sparked by a recent Washington Post op-ed and the new Hudson Institute’s Index of Global Philanthropy, the issue of how to classify remittances has once again surfaced. So they are not charity, and they are not aid - but no matter what you call them I firmly believe that there is still a huge amount that can be done to improve their development impact.
