'dropping knowledge’

I just came across the dropping knowledge initiative – though not sure what to make of it.

The idea, I think, is to host a global conversation on pressing global issues. The questions are ‘donated’ and voted on by you, and answered by ‘visionaries’ that you nominate. These 112 scientists, social entrepreneurs, artists and activist etc... will sit together at a huge round table in Berlin on September 9th and answer the 100 chosen questions. (One of the topics is economic development). All the responses will be recorded, translated and made available online. The hope is to challenge conventional thinking and inspire new ideas; and that by “dropping knowledge” all will gain “wisdom.” Will be interesting to see if this works out - at least the site is an neat start. It all sort of reminds me of a cross between TED, Pledge Bank and Long Bets.
