Easterly: no fan of MDGs

This page in:

EasterlyThe Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are “the worst designed incentive scheme for public policy seen in my lifetime,” according to William Easterly. His harsh words came at last week’s World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town. Instead of what he calls “arbitrary” goals with no accountability, Easterly has faith in social entrepreneurship and small projects. He does like the MDGs’ target-based approach but would prefer that governments set their own targets.

From the Cape Times. More coverage of the event from Moneyweb, SABC News, and People's Daily. Also, see the official press release for the achievements and commitments of the meeting.

Update: More of Easterly debating against the MDGs here and here.
