On fighting poverty

Almost 25 years of data from over 500 household surveys in 100 countries were used to estimate absolute poverty measures – a constant, real value between countries and between urban and rural areas - in the developing world.

Though the percentage of people living below the poverty line declined, the progress in reducing the number of poor is weak when looking at the developing world outside China. Read the new World Bank paper for details.
