Pangea is an educational retail shop and café which opened this week at the IFC headquarters here in DC.
Enjoy gourmet coffee, while shopping for beautifully handcrafted jewelry, silk scarves and vases; made by crafts-people from developing countries. While there, visitors will have an opportunity to learn the stories behind the merchandise showcased and the people that produce them. Artisans worldwide share a need to overcome challenges that hinder the strength and growth of their businesses, and prevent them from accessing larger markets… Pangea’s goal is to connect these businesses to international markets and raise awareness of the need to promote sustainable entrepreneurship in the developing world.
Many of the products being sold are made by artisans supported by the IFC’s Grassroots Business Initiative. More on Pangea, including upcoming events. Come by if your in DC.
