Countries and territories emerging from conflict present a tremendous challenge for governments and the international donor community. This new World Bank reading list makes the argument that private sector development should be an integral part of the rehabilitation process. Private sector activity, if conducted in a responsible manner, can stimulate growth, create jobs, foster good governance and sound institutions, and ultimately promote peace.
