Tsunami1_1 A new online discussion has been launched on the role of the private sector in natural disaster recovery and risk mitigation. All are encouraged to participate.

The New IMF research on aid and growth  discussion is being moderated by two senior members of the World Bank’s Hazard Risk Management unit. The discussion seeks to examine new ways for the private sector to be engaged in development following natural disasters. The huge donations following the 2005 tsunami were amazing – though most of it will not be dispersed, or will have little long-term impact. Increased investment and trade is needed for sustainable recovery, and there is great opportunity for public-private coordination beyond check writing and corporate social responsibility branding. What do you think?
