Abdoullahi Beidou

Abdoullahi Beidou is a seasoned economist and statistician with over three decades of experience in statistical capacity building and statistical system reform across Africa. Currently serving as a Senior Economist/Statistician at the World Bank since 2014, he leads complex regional operations aimed at strengthening national statistical capacities and enhancing data-driven decision-making. His recent work includes spearheading the "Harmonizing and Improving Statistics in West and Central Africa" initiative, aiming at improving statistical performance and modernization of participating countries and involving collaboration with international partners such as the IMF, ILO, UNICEF, and FAO. Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Beidou held several high-level positions, including, Director General of the National Institute of Statistics, Director General of the Treasury and Public Accounting of Niger and Sous-Director at the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). He has played a pivotal role in implementing statistical reforms, modernizing public financial systems, and developing regional economic databases. Mr. Beidou is also an experienced academic, having taught statistics and econometrics at the University of Niamey.
