Abebe Adugna is the Regional Director for Prosperity in the Western and Central Africa region. Based in Washington DC, Mr. Adugna brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of economic challenges and opportunities within the region. Before stepping into his current role, Mr. Adugna was the Practice Manager for the Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment global practice in Africa, specifically in the East Africa region. He has also served in other roles in several regions, including as a lead economist in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Europe and Central Asia (ECA) regions.
An Ethiopian national, Abebe joined the World Bank in 1999 as a Young Professional. He holds a PhD degree in Economics from Columbia University.
