Abhishek Gupta is a Rural Development Specialist in the Food & Agriculture Global Practice at the World Bank. He has work experience in South Asia, East Asia and the MENA regions related to enterprise development, livelihoods enhancement and making markets work for the poor in rural and semi-urban context. He has led several analytical activities and impact evaluations. Prior to the World Bank, he was working with the Planning Ministry(BAPPENAS) of Indonesia, advising the Poverty Directorate on their new poverty reduction strategy and analytical work related to poverty reduction and rural livelihoods. His other areas of interest include last mile service delivery, and application of ICT and big data tools in policy-making. He completed his graduate degree from Columbia University in Economic Development and International Affairs, where he was a Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellow and his undergraduate degree from St. Stephen's College, New Delhi.
