Abril (she/her) is a researcher and consultant. She focuses on the intersections of migration, gender, psychosocial wellbeing, and migrant agency. Her doctoral research in forced migration studies at the University of Oxford, explores how migration experiences transform the agency of women and gender-diverse migrants, considering psychosocial factors and gender dynamics within restrictive border systems. She employs participatory arts-based methods within a mixed-methods framework and regularly facilitates workshops on these research methods for researchers, students, and practitioners. Abril has a background in psychology, specializing in social and cultural psychology, gender studies, and sexuality. She has extensive experience collaborating with civil society and intergovernmental organizations on migration, asylum, wellbeing, and entrepreneurship in Latin America and East Africa.
