Abubakari Ahmed is an Urban Resilience Specialist at the World Bank with over 10 years of experience in urban research and the design and implementation of urban development projects in Africa.
Since joining the World Bank in 2023, Abubakari has co-led multidisciplinary teams involved in various investment operations and analytical projects that support client countries in addressing urban development issues. His areas of focus include urban resilience and sustainability assessments, climate modelling, geospatial analysis, and machine learning for urban analytics.
Before his work at the World Bank, Abubakari served as a senior lecturer in urban planning and design at the University for Development Studies (UDS) Wa campus. He has published in multiple academic journals and authored several books related to urban topics.
Abubakari holds a BSc in urban planning and both MSc and PhD degrees in sustainability science from the University of Tokyo, Japan.
