Agnes Balota is Senior Environmental Specialist leading operational engagement on climate resilience and green recovery, advisory work on environment and plastics, and cross-GP collaboration to enhance the environment and climate rationale in the delivery of lending operations. A Filipino national based in Manila, she also provides environmental safeguards support to various investment and development policy operations, including capacity building for clients on the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework.
Prior to joining the Bank in 2019, she managed climate and environment projects in the Philippine portfolio of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and provided support to the UN Climate Change Secretariat on the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process of developing and least developed countries.
Agnes has a master’s degree in Geology from the University of the Philippines and a post-graduate Diploma on Environmental Management for Developing and Emerging Countries from the Technische Universität Dresden in Germany.
