Aishwarya is an Economist (Extended Term Consultant) in the Social Policy Department at the World Bank, with a decade of experience spanning private sector development, impact evaluation, and firm- and household-level analytics across more than ten countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Based in Washington, D.C., she focuses on productive employment, firm-level and labor market analytics, and targeting methodologies of national programs – all with a strong commitment to translating rigorous evidence into policy impact.
Her technical assistance work on active labor market programs, employment and skills of graduates, female labor force participation, social norms, and firm growth has engaged governments on policy design and institutional capacity building. Aishwarya’s current work program in South Asia focuses on both analytical and operational support to governments in Bangladesh and Nepal. She also develops monitoring frameworks and conducts impact evaluations of World Bank-supported programs.
Prior to the World Bank, Aishwarya spent three years in financial services in India at Tata Capital, where she designed a financial product for women entrepreneurs, and led credit risk and non-performing asset analytics.
Aishwarya holds an M.A. in International and Development Economics from Yale University, and a B.A. in Economics and Statistics with Honors from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.
