Akiko Nakagawa is a Senior Environmental Specialist in the World Bank South Asia Region Disaster Risk Management & Climate Change Unit (Washington DC), and works on climate change mitigation and adaptation agenda in the region. Before joining the Bank in 2010, she served at the Ministry of Environment of the Japanese Government as a climate change negotiator (2007-2010). Prior to the position in the GoJ, she worked at JICA, JBIC, OECF, and managed a $1.6 billion lending portfolio comprising of projects such as watershed management, energy efficiency, afforestation, flood-resilient community development, and river embankment. Akiko has a master of urban planning (urban environment) from New York University. She is a Chinese literature lover, and loves cooking.
