Aknur Jumatova and Karine Bachongy

Aknur Jumatova is an Investment Officer with the International Finance Corporation based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Prior to joining IFC, Aknur worked as a member of the first PPP task team in the country within the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund and contributed to drafting the Kazakhstan Concession Law. Aknur participated in the preparation of the initial pipeline of PPP projects in Kazakhstan and development of the PPP implementation roadmap, and also worked at a small private equity firm focused on infrastructure transactions in CIS countries.

Aknur joined IFC in Almaty in 2008 as the first team member of the IFC PPP Transaction Advisory in Central Asia.  For the past ten years, Aknur worked on the development, structuring, and implementation of PPP transactions in various sectors, including health, mining, transport, energy, banking, agribusiness, education, and municipal services in Europe and Central Asia.  Aknur holds a graduate degree in Economic Development from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee.


Karine Bachongy is a Senior Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation and health sector lead for PPP Transaction Advisory Services. Accredited Hospital Director in France, Karine has worked for more than 20 years in the fields of hospital management, healthcare investment, and pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining the IFC in 2013, Mrs. Bachongy held director roles in public and PPP hospitals in Europe and the Middle East, as well as in the healthcare Industry.

She holds an Executive MBA with distinction from London Business School, and a master’s degree in Healthcare Management from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique, as well as a master’s in Macroeconomics and Politics from Sciences Po Paris.
