Akshat holds two Masters degrees: in International Public Policy from SAIS - Johns Hopkins University, USA, and Disaster Mitigation from the Sikkim Manipal University of India. He has worked in the East Asia Pacific, Southern Africa, and Caribbean regions implementing Disaster Risk Management public policies and programs with the UN and Bank. In addition to his career at the World Bank, Akshat creates immersive travel experiences in developing countries and conducts qualitative research projects to raise awareness of resilience building. His latest published book is titled: “Resilience in Kutch, Stories of Earthquake Survivors in Bhuj” which was published in 2021.
Prior to moving to Washington DC, Akshat was a Disaster Risk Reduction Advisor to the National Disaster Management Office of Botswana in Gaborone.
