Alberto Leyton is a Lead Public Sector Management Specialist in the Governance Global Practice in the World Bank, currently working in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. From this position Mr. Leyton leads World Bank activities to support governance and public sector modernization activities in the region. He is currently providing support to the governments of Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Central American countries in the region and more globally in Indonesia, Romania, and other Eastern European countries, helping develop institutional capabilities in the areas of performance management, revenue administration and public financial management.
Mr. Leyton joined the World Bank in 2002 and has since worked as a Senior Public Sector Management Specialist for the Latin American and for the Europe and Central Asian Regions, Country Manager for El Salvador, and advisor to the Regional Vice President for Latin America. Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Leyton had a 15-year career in the public sector in Bolivia where he took up senior management positions including as Vice-Minister of Planning and Finance and Minister of the Presidency. He holds advanced degrees in the areas of Sociology, Statistics and Public Administration.
