Alexei Ionascu is currently a short-term consultant for the World Bank providing implementation and supervision support to several lending operations and analytical and advisory services, including in disaster risk management. Alexei has worked for the World Bank since 1998 mostly in social protection and social development, interrupted by a five-year stint at the Millennium Challenge Corporation where he helped implement the $262 million Moldovan Compact as a Development Officer, focusing on transport and irrigation projects. During his career, he also worked for USAID and UNDP. Alexei holds a master's degree in Political Science from Central European University. As a Hubert Humphrey fellow, he also pursued a professional development program in public policy and administration at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, NY.
