Alfredo Baño Leal is a power engineer specialized in power utilities, energy policies, and clean energy technologies. In 2008, he joined the World Bank being based in the Bangkok Office. He is involved in several investment lending programs and analytical works, such as transmission and rural electrification, regional power trade, hydropower and mining development policies, disaster evaluation and management, and renewable and energy efficient programs in Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked for a few years in R&D consultancy and primary aluminum industry in Europe, and supported the implementation of infrastructure projects in Indonesia engaged by the Spanish Government.
When he is not working, he enjoys travelling, cooking delicious Spanish food, playing golf, and sailing around the region.
