Alfredo Mier y Teran is an Economist in the Ministry of Finance in Mexico (SHCP). His research interests are in the fields of Monetary Economics, Industrial Organization and Public Finance. In particular, he is interested in the links between bank competition and monetary policy transmission and optimal fiscal policy in a stochastic environment. Alfredo has also worked as a short-term consultant at the World Bank´s Research Department (2010) and as a financial consultant of local governments in Mexico at Evercore Partners (2005-2008).
Alfredo holds a B.A. in Economics from CIDE (Mexico) and will obtain his Ph.D. in Economics from UCLA in June 2013.
