Alfredo Nolasco Morales is Forest Engineer with a Master´s in Public Administration.
Since 2009, Mr. Nolasco has been the Wildland Fire Protection Manager at the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR) in Mexico.
Since the beginning of his career in 1986, he has been focused on forest protection in the management of large-scale wildland fires. He has international training in the United States, Canada and Spain.
He has held several public positions in the Ministery of Agriculture Minister, Ministery of Environment and Natural Resources and at the state government of Quintana Roo. His experience includes rain forest management and strategic planning.
Between 2004 to 2009, he was manager of the Fire Management Program at The Nature Conservancy-Mexico Program, working with the Global Fire Initiative to advise international projects in Central America, Caribbean and South American.
During 1989, 1998 and 2011 wildland fire emergencies in Mexico, he was appointed as Incident Commander at mega fires that have occurred in the state of Quintana Roo and Coahuila.
He has participated in workshops and international meetings on planning and fire management in Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Canada, United States and Thailand. He has also collaborated on drafting technical documents regarding wildfires.
He is a national and international trainer on fighting wildfires, prescribed burns and the Incident Management System.
Now he is encouraging incident management teams at the state, regional and national level. He is a member of the Mexican Incident Command System. He is currently working to update the Mexican National Wildfire Policy and is a member of the Fire Management Working Group of the North American Forestry Commission which includes experts from Canada, USA and Mexico.
