Ali Ahmad is a Senior Consultant at the World Bank advising the Energy and Extractive Industries Global Practice on a range of topics including energy policy and reforms in fragile and conflict situations, distributed power generation and the intersection between energy and social issues. In parallel to his work at the World Bank Group, Ali is a research fellow at Harvard University’ Kennedy School of Government where he studies the political economy of energy with focus on the Middle East region.
Recent World Bank publications include Distributed Power Generation for Lebanon: Market Assessment and Policy Pathways; Gender in Energy Interventions in Fragile and Conflict States in the Middle East and North Africa Region. Ali holds a first degree in Physics from the Lebanese University and a PhD in Engineering from Cambridge University.
