Alia is an international development professional with operational experience in affordable housing finance, education research, impact evaluation, and international relations. Alia joined the Bank in 2018 as a Short-Term Consultant at the Cairo Office, mainly working on the Egypt Inclusive Housing Finance Program under the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation (FCI) portfolio.
Prior to joining the Bank, Alia worked in the field of education, mainly as part of a consulting team for a private education developer in Cairo, and for the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education, a landmark $1.1 billion education initiative based in the UAE.
Alia holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Development Studies from McGill University in Canada, and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
