Alieu K. Bah is a Girl and Women’s Empowerment Specialist at the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition, and Population (HNP) Unit, based in The Gambia. He is a team member on the World Bank-financed regional gender initiative, the Sub-Saharan Africa Women Empowerment and Demographic Dividend Plus (SWEDD+) Project, while also supporting various Human Development projects. Alieu has extensive experience working across human development, with a particular focus on gender equality. Passionate about girls' education, Alieu actively supports the Ministry of Basic Education in this mission. Before joining the World Bank, he worked for the Government of The Gambia’s public health sector, supporting the provision of public health services for women and children. He holds a master’s degree in public health from Lund University and a bachelor’s degree in public and environmental health from the University of The Gambia.
