Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist

Ambroise Brenier is a Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist at the World Bank. He is currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia, supporting the growing ENB program, with a focus on oceans and blue economy.

Dr. Ambroise Brenier is a World Fellow at Yale University and has a PhD in Marine Biology from Sorbonne University (formerly University Pierre and Marie Curie). Prior to joining the World Bank in 2021, Ambroise served as Country Director for the Wildlife Conservation Society in Papua New Guinea. Ambroise and his team were working with the government and hundreds of indigenous communities around the country to triple Papua New Guinea’s marine protected areas coverage, preserve intact forests, promote the sustainable use of natural resources, and improve people's livelihoods. Prior to this role, he led the Wildlife Conservation Society’s marine conservation efforts in Madagascar. In earlier years, Ambroise also served as the program manager for a Swiss-based Foundation dedicated to the protection of marine life and coastal livelihoods in West Africa, and he studied coral reefs and coastal fisheries in New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and Madagascar as part of his Master's and PhD research.
