Ammara is a Climate Change Specialist at the World Bank. Since joining the Climate Change Group, she has been a core member of various teams responsible for delivering the Adaptation and Resilience agenda at the institution. Ammara has led engagement on climate adaptation with the Transport and Energy Global Practices on Paris Alignment and the Resilience Rating System. Additionally, she has been at the forefront of developing the Climate and Disaster Risk Stress Testing Methodology and tools, supporting World Bank operations in integrating climate and disaster risk considerations into project design and planning. Ammara successfully led the pilot of this methodology in operations in Mozambique, Nepal, and several West African countries. She has also provided technical support on these topics to projects in South Africa and the Europe and Central Asia region. In her current role in the Climate Finance and Economics team, Ammara is spearheading the work on climate adaptation investment needs.
Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked as a Data Analyst for the Allegheny County Office of Analytics Technology and Planning. In this role, Ammara led the development of data dashboards and systems to manage the monitoring of the core operations and outcomes of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. Ammara holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University, with a focus on quantitative policy analysis and data science.
