Ana Campos is the Regional Coordinator for disaster risk management in Africa at the World Bank, based in Washington, D.C. In this role, she plays a strategic role in leading and supporting teams working across resilience and disaster risk management in relation to territorial development, urban and coastal resilience, institutional and policy strengthening, ex-ante disaster risk financing, modernization of hydromet systems, and emergency response and recovery. She has led and co-led a series of climate adaptation and disaster risk management projects in Seychelles, Malawi, Uganda, Kenya and The Gambia.
Before joining the World Bank Africa Region, she led several projects on DRM in Latin America and the Caribbean (LCR), including the expansion of the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) to Central America.
Prior to joining the Bank, Ana worked for more than 20 years in Latin America as a Regional Director of PREDECAN at the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru) and as a technical advisor for multiple projects with the Government of Colombia, the academic sector and the Colombian Earthquake Engineering Association. She co-led the flagship report Analysis of Disaster Risk Management in Colombia: A Contribution to the Creation of Public Policies and has written more than 35 articles and publications including the Andean territory dynamics Atlas: Populations and properties exposed to natural hazards, and Field manual to inspect buildings after an earthquake. A Colombian and Spanish Nacional, she holds a M.Sc. in Earthquake Engineering and B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia.
