Ana Gren works as a Senior Social Development Specialist at the World Bank Climate Change Group (CCG), Sustainable Development Practice, on Secondment from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). In this role she supports the leadership at the Climate Change Group in advancing on priorities that aim to strengthen the integration of the gender-climate nexus in operations, strategy, analytical, and advisory work. Throughout her career, Ana has held various positions in development and academia, including managing Sida’s global thematic support to UNICEF-Water programs, and to the World Bank Water Global Practice, Water Security and Sanitation Partnership (GWSP). She has led the implementation of numerous global, bilateral and regional development cooperation programs, led the Sida Water Network, and managed scientific research and innovation cooperation programs with global research institutions in various countries in Latin American, Africa, and Asia. During 2010-2012, she served as Consul for Development Cooperation at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Consulate General of Sweden, Jerusalem, managing support for water, municipal development, infrastructure and environment sectors through the West Bank and Gaza. In all these roles, applying a gender equality and inclusion lens has been a priority.
Ana holds a Ph.D. in Infrastructure and Planning from the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH in Sweden, a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania; and a BSc in Economics from Stockton University, USA. In August 2015, Ana was appointed as a member in the Global Advisor Panel for the REACH Global Water Security Program at Oxford University, UK.
Ana is a Swedish national, was born in Ecuador and currently lives in Washington, D.C.
