Ana Maria Oviedo leads research, technical and policy dialogue on poverty, inequality, labor, and gender with governments in Eastern Europe. She has also advised governments throughout the Latin America Region. She was part of the World Development Report 2014, Risk and Opportunity, where she led the chapter on household risk management. She has conducted research on a broad range of topics, including skills, education quality, employment, informality, labor and product market regulation, and productivity. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland.
