Anastasiya Denisova is a Senior Economist with the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice at the World Bank; based in Washington DC. Currently she leads the World Bank’s engagement on the labor topics in Indonesia. Prior to her work in the East Asia Pacific region Anastasiya worked in South Asia and Middle East and North Africa regions. Her work focused primarily on employment issues, including labor market information systems, labor regulations, female labor force participation, labor migration and entrepreneurship support. Outside of the labor issues, Anastasiya’s work has also focused on digitizing the payment system for the government to people payments, with the latest engagement on this topic in Jordan. Anastasiya joined the World Bank as a Young Professional in 2013. Before this, she worked with the International Finance Corporation focusing on issues of job creation through private sector support. She holds Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown and B.S. in Economics and Political Science from UC Berkeley.
