Andrew Nell is a consultant, researcher and data scientist who has been providing support to the World Bank since 2021. His current work within GFDRR focuses on using statistical methods, machine learning approaches and geospatial analysis to solve problems across the nexus between land use, transportation, labour markets and climate risk. He has developed several analytical tools and approaches and co-authored several research papers. Outside of his work for the World Bank he provides analytics and strategic support to a variety of government and private sector clients leveraging his experience and technical expertise. Previously he worked as both a technical engineering and management consultant. Andrew has a master's degree in Applied Urban Science and Informatics from New York University's (NYU) Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) in New York and previously graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
