Senior Trade and Regional Integration Economist

Ankur Huria is a Senior Trade and Regional Integration Economist in the Trade, Competitiveness and Business Practice at the World Bank, based in East Africa. With over 18 years of experience at the institution, he has played a leading role in shaping the trade, regional integration, and private sector agenda across more than 45 countries spanning Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. His work spans a broad and interconnected range of areas, including trade logistics and corridor development, trade facilitation and border management, regional economic integration, digital trade, national quality infrastructure and standards, investment climate reform, and private sector development. He has also led analytical and operational work on global value chains — with a focus on agribusiness and energy transition minerals — positioning his portfolio at the intersection of trade competitiveness and emerging development priorities. Before joining the World Bank, Ankur built a foundation in the private and nonprofit sectors, with experience in logistics and supply chain management in the consumer goods industry and financial advisory in consulting. He holds dual master’s degrees in public policy (MPP) and Business Administration (MBA).
