Ann-Sofie Jespersen joined the World Bank in 2013 and brings more than 20 years of experience working on climate adaptation and accountability. As a Senior Social Development Specialist in West Africa, she leads projects and climate engagements across a broad regional portfolio, with a focus on climate adaptation, circular economy innovations, and methane reduction. She has operational experience across Africa, MENA, and beyond, delivering complex operations in countries including the Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Guinea, Nigeria, Mozambique, Tajikistan, Indonesia and Egypt, among others. She serves as the Global Lead for Green Accountability and has been a key contributor to carbon market governance in the region. Before joining the World Bank she worked on governance and accountability with ActionAid in West Africa, the Middle East, and the USA. She obtained her Bachelor and Master degrees in International Development and Business Studies at Roskilde University, Denmark.
