Anna Machado holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom and has a Diploma in Public Administration from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 2021 Anna works as a Program Policy Officer in the Social Protection unit for the World Food Programme – Mozambique. Anna previously worked for five years as a researcher at the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG/UNDP), a global research center based in Brazil specialized in social protection and South-South cooperation. Previously, Anna has worked as a national consultant for UN-Habitat to support social and urban development programs in Rio de Janeiro city, where she was involved in field work and in the design of policy evaluation instruments in Rio’ favelas (slums). In 2014 Anna was awarded with a Chevening Scholarship, the UK Government’s international scholarship scheme aimed at professionals of the Global South. Her current professional interests include social protection, food and nutrition, urban development and policy evaluation.
