Åsa Giertz is a Senior Agriculture Economist at the World Bank’s Food and Agriculture Global Practice. She has over 17 years of experience of working with agriculture and food security in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. Over the years, Åsa has worked extensively with nutrition sensitive agriculture and healthy food systems in World Bank financed projects and analytics, as well as with general agri-food policy, and with agricultural risk management. She is currently based in the Rwanda Country Office, working on projects in Rwanda, Burundi, and DRC. Åsa has an MSc in Macro and Development Economics from Stockholm University and an MSc in Food and Nutrition Policy from City University London. Before joining the World Bank, she worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
