Asmita Tiwari is a Senior Urban and Disaster Risk Management Specialist in the South Asia Region. She has successfully led many projects and technical assistance programs across countries in Sub Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, and South Asia regions, including regional multi-country interventions such as the Horn of Africa drought response and Resilient Cities initiative under the Africa Climate Business Plan. With a PhD in Public Administration and Policy, Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, and Bachelors in Architecture, she brings in unique expertise and broad experience in bridging the fields of urban development, disaster risk management, and climate change adaptation. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked with the UNICEF on managing regional drought mitigation program, the US Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program, and private engineering and urban development consulting firms in the United States and India.
