Asta Bareisaite is a Senior Private Sector Specialist in the World Bank Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice (FCI GP), East Africa Unit. In her various roles at the World Bank Group, she has lead and supported WBG operations including lending, advisory and analytical work in AFR, MNA, and ECA regions. Asta has a particular interest in private and financial sector development work in FCV settings, having worked extensively in fragile and conflict-affected countries, including Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia and Iraq. In addition, she has worked on private and financial sector development projects in Kenya, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries. Prior to joining the WBG in 2013, Asta has worked in the private sector and other international institutions. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, and a dual Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and Hertie School of Governance.
