Ayça Dönmez is a Statistics and Monitoring Specialist in the Division of Data, Analysis, Planning & Monitoring (DAPM) at UNICEF in New York. She works for the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme on Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (JMP) and contributes substantially to monitoring and reporting of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators related to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in households, schools, and health care facilities, especially 1.4.1, 4.a.1, 6.1.1, 6.2.1a, 6.2.1b.
Before joining UNICEF, she worked as a statistician at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) (Italy, 2015-2020), the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (Spain, 2011-2015), the Europe and Central Asia Human Development division at the World Bank (Turkey, 2010-2011), and as a researcher at Middle East Technical University (Turkey, 2005-2010) and Bilkent University (Turkey, 2003-2005). Her technical experience rages from mathematical, applied and computational statistics to economic and econometric analysis in various domains including WASH, agriculture and food, employment, environment.
Ayça is from Ankara, Turkey. She has Ph.D and B.Sc. in Statistics from Middle East Technical University and M.A. in Economics from Bilkent Universitesi, both in Turkey.
