Ayesha Tahir is a climate risk and analytics specialist at the World Bank Group, working on disaster risk and human development. She develops geospatial climate risk and flood exposure analysis for operations across South Asia and Central Africa. She developed a GIS dashboard mapping flood risk across schools in four provinces of Pakistan, which was adopted by the government for post-flood reconstruction planning and received the 2024 World Bank Human Development Vice Presidency Team Award. She has published two World Bank Policy Research Working Papers on leveraging digital technology for girls' education during the COVID-19 crisis, and on flood mapping using satellite data and machine learning. Earlier in her career she supported education investment operations in Pakistan from project identification to closing. She also manages portfolio monitoring and donor reporting for the Climate Support Facility. Ayesha holds a master's in public policy from the University of Maryland, which she attended on a full scholarship from the TIAA Nonprofit Fellowship.
