Manoj Sharma is the Director of the Water and Urban Development, Asian Development Bank (ADB) responsible for supervising the processing and administration of loans and technical assistance to foster livable cities, water security, and climate resilience in the developing member countries of South Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. He has worked in ADB in different capacities including senior positions of Chief of the Urban Sector Group and Director of Water and Urban Development. Before joining ADB, he worked in the Government of India in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
With a career spanning 33 years, Mr. Sharma has extensive experience in urban development, economic corridors, and livable cities with ADB and the Government of India. He has guided multi-sector teams for policy dialogue, knowledge management, conceptualization and implementation of complex and transformational projects and programs across ADB’s member countries.
Mr. Sharma has a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta, and is a CFA Charter holder.
