Bacar Nawiya is a Comorian artist, slam poet, and author. She has participated in several festivals in the Comoros such as "Slamming a Foot on the Moon" in 2016 and 2019, as well as the Bangwe Festival of Orality in 2022. She has also performed at various international festivals including "FISH Mali" in Mali in 2019 and several in Senegal such as Festa 2H, Urban Woman Week, Fraternal Francophone Suburbs, Festigraff, to name a few, between 2019 and 2020.
She won the second prize in the "Best Slam Poet on the Theme of Abortion in Cases of Rape and Incest" contest organized by the TASK Force in Dakar in 2020.
Currently, she has collaborated on a cooperative collection titled "Des racines et des îles" with other Comorian slammers and poets, published by Éditions 4 Etoiles in 2021. In 2022, she released her first solo slam collection "For the Time of a Slam, I Am a Warrior" with Éditions Cœlacanthes.
As a co-founder of the Kam'art Culture Association, she initiated the Slam at School project which is in its first edition. She is also an activist against violence against women and children, and she launched the hashtag #UtsiRuwe which encompasses texts that speak out against and denounce this violence, as well as testimonies from victims.
