Senior Mining Specialist

Balada Amor is Senior Mining Specialist under the Energy and Extractives Global Practice. She obtained her PhD in Environmental Studies from The University of Freiburg before joining The World Bank mid-2018. Her responsibilities include strategic planning and program implementation in the extractives sector in Indonesia, maintain and enhance stakeholder relations and donor outreach. Currently, she’s leading various projects including policy development to inform on governance and transparency in the sector at national and subnational level, promotion of climate-smart mining activities in relation with interconnecting the mineral sector and the renewable energy industry as well as boosting a low-carbon economy, extractives data management, and last but not least, supporting gender-mainstreaming initiatives in mining industries, both in large industries and Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining. Balada is also championing one of the initiatives under the agile transformation process in the World Bank Office Jakarta. Her main passion is to work on a strategic level to develop impactful projects in the extractives space together with the counterparts to achieve the mutual goal for better benefit-sharing for the community at subnational level while strongly emphasizing gender equality in decision-making processes, all based on robust evidence-based analyses and good stakeholder dialogues.
