Basab Dasgupta is an Economist working in World Bank’s Water Global Practice. He received his M. Phil from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1997 and PhD from the University of Connecticut in 2005. Prior to the World Bank, he worked in the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and in the National Centre for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NCAP, ICAR, India). Mr. Dasgupta has expertise in the areas of rural credit market and its effects on human capital development, child labor & growth; female labor force participation in India; job crisis monitoring and multi-dimensional poverty in EU countries, and housing investment in low and middle income countries. Mr. Dasgupta has published in several referred journals and served as a referee for World Development (Elsevier’s) and Applied Economics (Routledge).
