Ben Hyman is currently working for J-PAL as a Research Associate on an industrial regulation project that aims to evaluate the impact of emissions trading on pollution abatement and firm costs savings in India’s three largest industrial areas. Ben is particularly interested in economic growth strategy and industrial organization, and hopes to better understand the trade-offs between growth, regulation, and development. Ben’s previous research experience includes work with Colombia’s national competitiveness council where he helped analyze the impact of foreign direct investment on local economic outcomes, and a year working on rural electrification projects in Nicaragua. Ben holds an M.C.P. in Economic Development Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and received his B.A. (Honors) in International Political Economy from the University of Southern California.
