Bernard Haven is a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Macroeconomics, Trade & Investment Global Practice, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In previous assignments, he was based in Kabul, Afghanistan and in Washington DC. Prior to joining the World Bank, he was an economic adviser at the Canadian Embassy in Haiti. In South Sudan, he headed the technical secretariat of a multi-donor public administration trust fund. In Afghanistan, he was based at the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team and the Canadian Embassy, supporting local governance and basic service delivery. He began his public service career at a tax services office of the Canada Revenue Agency in Quebec. He was educated at Calvin College, the London School of Economics, the School of Oriental and African Studies, and Johns Hopkins University, and he is a CFA charterholder.
