Bianca Bianchi Alves is the Practice Manager of Transport for the Latin America and Caribbean region of the World Bank. She is a PhD in Transport Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Sao Paulo. Her academic work focuses on travel behavior, reliability, and demand modeling for transport. She has 23 years of experience working with planning and implementation of passenger rail, bus rapid transit, and roads, both in Latin America and the US.
Since joining the Bank, she has worked both in Latin America and South Asia regions with Rail/BRT Projects, clean technologies, urban logistics, and sustainable transport policies. She is now back to the Latin America and Caribbean region managing a rich and growing portfolio and pipeline of projects in 18 countries
