Bilal Malaeb is a Senior Economist at the World Bank’s Poverty and Equity Global Practice. His analytical expertise lie in areas of labor markets, migration, poverty and fiscal equity, and and has an operational interest in statistical modernization and data systems. He previously served as in the Middle East and North Africa region and currently in the South Asia Region. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the LSE, University of Oxford, and University of Southampton. Bilal has previously served as consultant to the World Bank, ILO, IFAD, IGC LSE-Oxford Commission on State Fragility, among others. He is also a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE). He holds a BA in Economics from the American University of Beirut, and MSc and PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester.
