Bramka Arga Jafino is a consultant/advisor at Deltares, The Netherlands. His current work focuses on supporting flood risk management through quantitative models, with an emphasis on promoting equity and fairness in the planning process. Prior to joining Deltares, Bramka worked as a consultant for GFDRR. His work focused on using simulation models and machine learning techniques to support climate change adaptation and mitigation planning under deep uncertainty. For example, he updated the Shock Waves model, which projects climate change impacts on global poverty and shared prosperity, using newer household survey data. Bramka is currently wrapping up his PhD at Delft University of Technology, with a thesis titled “Model-based approaches to support equitable delta adaptation planning”. In his PhD, Bramka developed an integrated impact assessment model to evaluate the efficiency and fairness of alternative adaptation policies for rice farmers in the Vietnam Mekong Delta. In addition to his main research subject, Bramka also conducted studies on transport network resilience and criticality analysis, with a case study in Bangladesh.
