Bremen de Mucio is the Regional Advisor on Maternal Health for the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). De Mucio is an obstetrician-gynecologist with a master's degree in family and community health and a PhD in Perinatology from the University of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. An Uruguayan national, he worked for more than 15 years as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and for 7 years he was Director of the Maternal and Child Program of the Ministry of Health of his country. He was twice awarded the National Prize for Medicine by the Uruguayan National Academy of Medicine and has published more than 120 papers on subjects related to his area of work.
